After Angela Missoni’s retirement last May, Missoni redrew its image under Alberto Caliri’s vision – Caliri had been the right hand of longtime creative director Angela Missoni for 12 years.

For his second collection, his last for the label, Caliri broadened his offering around a more wearable, everyday wardrobe, took inspiration from America, seen in the Texan-esque snakeskin ankle boots, and the attitude of ’90s hip-hop conveyed by low-slung pants or sweats, and small, waist-baring tops.

Caliri riffed on his expertise and knowledge of the Missoni codes, offering a streamlined version of its famous graphics and keeping the look neat and unfussy.

The house knits also came in enveloping proportions and in various fabrics. “I wanted to give knitwear a lived-in, warm, emotional quality”, said Caliri. “To me, they convey the same intimate, familiar feel of wrinkles on a beautiful face”.
