Three years after his Paris Fashion Week debut in June 2019, and two years of absence due to COVID-19, Rhude de Villaseñor returned to fashion’s capital with a more confident collection that continues to elevate his vision of streetwear with a leaning towards luxury.

New Money“, as his Spring/Summer 2023 collection is called, was a reflection on streetwear and the importance placed on appearance and social networks by today’s generation – towering chandeliers were placed along the runway with light bulbs replaced by cameras, as a metaphor for our lives on constant display on social networks.

“‘New Money’, for me, is my direct response to the term ‘streetwear’”, Rhude said. “I think once we understand the intention behind the word ‘streetwear’ and why it’s even used as a derogatory term it will just evolve to another thing. For me, it’s like, I make clothes that people want to wear and this is what I want to make”.

In a bright, summery color palette, the Manila-born Filipino designer brought a relaxed silhouette, reworking his classics while staying true to his West Coast roots.

Alongside aviator jackets and blazers that exude comfort, the collection continued to emphasize the intersection of high-end tailoring and streetwear elements, with jeans or cargo pants worn low to reveal the top of a boxer that prominently displayed a Rhude label, or cigar suits and perfectly cut blazers paired with loose tank tops.
