‘’A more casual way to be extravagant’’. That’s Tom Ford’s answer to what people would want to wear after spending a year in sweats.

Forced to postpone the presentation, initially scheduled for February 17, of his collection due to an outbreak of the virus in his workroom in London, the American designer, also president of the CFDA, has finally published the lookbook for his Fall/Winter 2021 collection on last February 26.

Tom Ford has explored dressing up in a more casual yet luxurious way. He referenced the attitude of ‘60s dressy-casual and ‘80s punk (Paul Simonon of The Clash with his rebel gaze and glossy leather jackets was on the designer’s mood board). These references emerged from this wardrobe that balances everyday style’s practical needs with men’s desire to dress in a sophisticated fashion.

There were many pieces in velvet and quilted material while the suits were worn without black ties. Luxurious fabrics were everywhere, like these white shearling zip-front jackets and cashmere turtlenecks.

And paying a nod to the increased time spent at home, colorful robes and pajamas in vibrant prints rounded out the collection.

All in an incredibly vivid color palette, from caramel to turquoise, dusty pink, jade green or acid yellow that peeked out from a sea of neutrals.
