Known for its men’s leather shoes and leather goods, Berluti, founded in 1895, has been developing a full range of apparel for the past decade – the famous shoe house marks the 10th anniversary of its ready-to-wear project – of which this latest collection for the Fall/Winter 2022 season is a perfect demonstration.

The collection, designed by the in-house studio – Kris Van Assche, who took the reins of the house in 2018, stepped down as Berluti’s creative director in April 2021 – was inspired by the elegance of Marcello Mastroianni and Andy Warhol, two loyal clients of the house in the last century.
“Elegant, daring and uncompromisingly legendary, Marcello Mastroianni embodies a modern version of the brand: a completely natural, effortless balance of ease and casual panache that is integral to Berluti’s core values. A client of the fashion house, the Italian actor has always been drawn to the craftsmanship and creativity of leather processing. His authentic and intuitive personality forever changed people’s ideas of style, making him a true icon”, Berluti noted in its press release.
As for Andy Warhol, he “has always been an icon of contemporary and modern elegance. Inextricably linked to Berluti – not only has he been a customer for decades, but also inspired Olga Berluti in the creation of an iconic loafer that would later bear her name – the American artist embodies the inimitable creativity that is the essence of Berluti”.
Highlights of the collection include the double-faced wool and cashmere artist’s jacket made by Arnys, Berluti’s sewing workshop – the jacket is a direct descendant of the Forestière jacket first made for Le Corbusier to his own specifications in 1947 – and new hiking boots with a rubberized half upper, created in collaboration with Italian sole manufacturer Vibram.
